As we enter the 21st century, it is difficult to imagine a world without millions of pornographic videos at our fingertips at all hours of the day and night. We are fortunate to have been born in an era where we have access to a nearly endless number of hot chicks at the click of a button. Put on a pair of virtual reality goggles and your living room instantly turns into a porn set, where you can watch supermodels appear before you and give you a blowjob for free. Oh, we are too lucky.
Of course, this was not always the case. Have you ever wondered how lonely fappers like yourselves enjoyed themselves before the advent of video cameras? What about before film? It's not that I didn't have things to amuse myself with back then, other than my own memories and imagination. Yes, that's for sure. The only difference is that instead of being obsessed with pictures and videos of naked girls, I was obsessed with books.
The tradition of erotic literature dates back to ancient Sumerian times. A poem describing the goddess Inanna being made to cum by her queen, the shepherdess Demjid, is the first known work of literary excitement. It must have thrilled the hearts of ancient Sumerian men. To fuck a real-life goddess. It's a dream come true.
Ancient Greece and Rome also left many erotic poems. Greek poets Straton of Sardis and Sappho of Lesbos were world famous for their groundbreaking erotic poetry, and the tradition of erotic prose found its origins in the 17th and 18th centuries. Today, of course, erotic fiction is a publishing giant, and the genre enjoys a dedicated and active base of underground amateur writers and readers.
In other words, despite the millions of websites dedicated to hardcore pornography, the age-old tradition of erotic lit is alive and well in 2018. Some people like to read pornography as opposed to watch pornography. Are many of the fans of erotic lit the ones we hear so much about who self-identify as sapiosexuals (who find their intellect hotter than their appearance)? Regardless, if you get excited primarily by stories, there are plenty of sites to check out.
Storiesonline.net is a somewhat deceptively innocent-sounding name. One could see many people visiting the site expecting to see a short story by Hemingway, The Tempest, or even Dickens. But instead, you'll find plenty of dicks enjoying short skirts and seduction, and Stories Online is a huge database of erotic literature, complete books, short stories, nonfiction, and more, all about man's oldest pursuit: sex.
This site is a time capsule.
When I arrived at the home page of storiesonline.net, the first thing I noticed was that the site's design appears to have not been updated in quite some time. Information and links are displayed in a very disorganized manner. I do believe, however, that there is no such thing as an acceptance or rejection process. It's more like members can post whatever they want and others can read and rate it. Then we give them an average score on a 10-point scale. So while we may not be able to count a piece submitted to Story Online as an official publication, it is a good way to get a feel for reader response. For example, you might want to try this before deciding whether to go ahead with publication.
Horny readers and an enthusiastic community of writers
Users of storiesonline.net can view stories by category, and those stories appear in a news feed, which appears to be a forum-style list. On the left side of the feed is a quick search bar, ongoing serials, completed stories (top downloads, top recent stories, top recent serials), and older stories (top short stories, top feature stories, all-time short stories classics, all-time feature stories classics, and author favorites), There are links to the conclusion of more than serials for archival purposes. And below it all, there are links to other platforms for erotic lit.
In addition to the seemingly active and engaged community of authors and readers, there are also contests. While authors don't seem to win anything (other than publicity and bragging rights), I still think it's a great way to stimulate creativity and participation in the community.
The site is poorly designed, but seems to be fairly extensively organized and preserved. You can search by new arrivals, authors, alphabetical databases, categories, reviews, blogs, and even universes (the fictional worlds in which the stories take place). In addition, Storiesonline even has an independent forum for authors and readers to discuss their work. There are many creative ways to keep horny creators occupied on this site.
Raising the bar (and my dicks).
Overall, I was generally impressed with the content I could find at storiesonline.net. Every story I read seemed to conform to proper grammar, and everything was written with attention to language and detail (then again, it would be pretty hard to write erotica without attention to detail, I'm sure). The writers who frequent this site seem to really care about their work and take it seriously.
I believe that the storiesonline rating system probably doesn't hurt in terms of incentivizing quality work. Whatever the reason, the stories are engaging, well-written, and entertaining. I can't get carried away with these pieces, but I did feel a twitch in my pants here and there as the stories began to pick up steam. Keep up the good work, Stories Online writers!
Another great thing about Stories Online is that there are no ads. You probably don't know how rare this is in the world of online pornography. In fact, you might, since you just stay at home and masturbate all day. But still, it is always a breath of fresh air.
- Lack of ads
